Top brass!

...and other vintage metals............................

What do you do when you're put on hold over the telephone? I play chess against the computer or mindlessly surf the net.....Here's the result of a few productive minutes lost hours spent on Etsy........

 etsy.

A collection of brass bells...................

A solitary bell this time.......
etsy. (Did I hear someone say temple bell in the last post?---here you go, then!)

Some oomph for the front door?
 etsy.

A pretty tray perhaps. One more option in case this post left you drooling for more?

Perhaps a little brass cutie to hold a candle (not necessarily in the wind, LOL!)
etsy

Love his crusty patina. There are tons of little vintage elephants up for grabs on etsy. See the entire selection (at time of publication) here.

And I need to end on this note......
A wink and a nod to a certain blogger who's going to drool over this. Available here.

How did you like my roundup of vintage metals-- which, I hear, are set to make a huge comeback? *insert brassy grin here*....yup, I'm full of bad puns today aren't I ? :D

Turning the ordinary...

...into something remarkable!

I have to warn you girls...this next picture may have you scrambling for the dhobi's (laundryman's) stall...

This brass beauty can be purchased here on Etsy. Would you?

Some things peacock...

Yo! people in the house--sorry for being MIA, just  been crazy busy lately (is it just me, or do you think I say that too often??? :) ) Well truth is I am, and I'm also exhausted by the end of the day when I usually sit down to put together some posts for you. Lucky for me, I have a stockpile of drafts which I started in the hope of posting but never really got round to since my "mood" changed (yes, that happens a lot around here too. Why do you put up with me? :)....Anyhoo, you lucky gals ( and guys) are going to be subjected to another one of my drafts. Wait! it isn't as bad as it sounds, I hope---there is plenty of eye candy in here. And I really hope that the links are still live. But you'll overlook that for me right? because you love me? *bats eyes*. Here goes....

I just realized I've been going on and on about paisleys, without having shared any peacock goodness with you....So here are some random peacock inspired lovelies for you to feast your eyes on...

The etsy store is called "jhumkas" and carries (wait for it) jhumkas. You have to go check out the collection!

I loved my round up of all things peacock. Did you find any favorites?

Have a great weekend, folks!

Decorating with nature-inspired art.....

There are classics and there are trends. Isn't it fun when classics are in?......lately, all the magazines I pick up are trending toward nature-inspired prints and furnishings (no doubt started by the likes of Williams-Sonoma and Crate and Barrel)....Well, I'm not complaining- I've always been attracted to organic forms. Reminds me of those hospital-green framed botanical and zoological prints in lab!

Anyhoo-the good thing is that they're back, in modern avatars (don't shudder in fear- I'm not going to introduce you to the dowdy decor schemes of decades past with botanical print overload...(think lumberjack plaid+loud botanical prints, and for extra points throw in one of those fans with palm tree blades-ouch!!)). Nah!

Let's look at some modern spaces, shall we?

Etsy lovelies...........

Having difficulty visualizing this art in your space? Maybe this will help........

The framed print pictured above is available here.

(Side note: I love it when I get to see stuff in perspective- I wish more etsyians would take the initiative to do this. Side note 2- I love her space -très chic!- wouldn't I like to see the rest of her home sometime!!)

So what do you think? Could your space use art depicting flora and/or fauna? There are tons of options out there....will you bring it home?

Hoot!! This really had me in splits....

as a veteran of innumerable journeys (road/rail/air), with most recent ones involving a very vocal child, this really made me laugh. And since road-trip season is not officially over yet---to all the mommies and daddies out there, the question of the day is.....

Ceramic travel mug to tote your Cup O' Joe, available on etsy here.

:D Are you on the road today? Do you wish you had this mug?....if not there's also this one, though I hope it doesn't come to that! Have a great weekend! :)

Floor cushions

I'm on the lookout for some fun, affordable floor cushions. They're sure to add a touch of intimacy to any gathering -give me a few of my favorite people, steaming cups of "adrak-chai" (ginger-tea) and let the conversation flow......

Here's what a traditional "baithak" would look like:

Wow! that's versatile- I'd love me an outdoor space like that! Oh well ...a girl can dream.... :)

What I have in mind is a lot less formal, just a few floor cushions that can be stacked up and moved around to wherever we set up our "adda". Here are a few options off of etsy and the net...

Hand-screened organic fabric cushions. Buy here.

Buy these here....

No, not the pup, just the floor cushions. :)

Or maybe these will go down on my ever-evolving (and never completed) list of DIY projects. Get project ideas here.
