Midweek blues......

...and aquas and turquoises.... For a person with an inordinate amount of  turquoise in her wardrobe, I have, surprisingly, no touches of the color in my current home. There are loads of earthy colors, reds, oranges, yellows, greens, but turquoise is, sadly, missing. This was not always the case though--back home in India, my first "room of my own" (a hard-to-get single room in the university hostel), was awash in turquoise. I had my turquoise paisley block-printed bedspread (university issued saggy bed!), my big "splurge"-- a bright turquoise woven rag rug. Cushions in shades of blue+yellow. Some silly (really) DIY art in shades of red and yellow (slapdash painting of sunflowers). The tiny room and tiny balcony- it used to get SO hot in summer (it was on the top floor and got a full blast of the afternoon sun on one wall to boot!). I usually wouldn't get to sleep before 2:00 AM because of the heat! But those were the good ol' days (even tho' I couldn't wait for them to be over back then!!), friends and addas and movies.....

Anyway, I was suddenly nostalgic for my old favorite and decided to see what the web would conjure up for me......imagine my DELIGHT when I saw this gorgeous home-tour. The house belongs to a designer from Stockholm, who has combined her love for India with her Swedish design sensibilities into this gorgeous, serene home. The lovely Tricia of Avolli has kindly loaned me the pictures for this post...

Drool on, my lovelies..........

Tricia is an interior designer based in Portland, ME. Go check out her blog for tons of great inspiration....

How do you feel about turquoise? Do you wear it? decorate with it? (if so send me the pictures and I'll post them on here)......

PS: I had such fun doing the search on turquoise in decor, there's loads of inspiration left over........I'm thinking of Turquoise part two. BTW, there's also this really cool blog named House of Turquoise. Must see!

  2. You know I don't have a single speck of turquoise in my house either...but I just love the color. I don't know...all of a sudden i am thinking of deep pinks and turquoises and want to change everything in the house...I think Patty (and all the other bloggers filling the design blogosphere with incredible colors) are to blame ;-)

@Kamini: I'm so with you...now I feel like I have to turn everything upside down and start over again...I'm sure hubs will think I'm nuts... :D

  5. I really love turquoise, but at the moment it's absent from both my home and wardrobe. Must fix that!
